How We Hire

Screening

At Mailbird, we believe that a candidate's worth is more than just what's written on their CV. That's why we give everyone a chance to express themselves beyond a CV or cover letter by posing several thought-provoking questions that help us discover your unique qualities. We are aware this requires additional time and effort, but it's essential in helping us identify the best candidates, especially in a competitive pool. So please give it your best shot! Also, for some positions, we might ask you to take an aptitude test. Currently, we only do this for software development roles.

First Interview

You'll receive an email with a link to our booking page. From there, you'll be able to schedule a 30-minute conversation with our recruiters at a time that's convenient for you, so we can determine if you're a match made in heaven for our team (and vice versa). This is also your chance to ask any questions you have about Mailbird. For technical roles, we may also include a couple of technical questions to assess your knowledge to save you time in the long run and make the most of our conversation together before moving you forward to the lengthier technical interviews.

Skill Assessment

We believe in a personalized and creative approach to the skill assessment stage, tailoring it to the requirements of each role. For some roles, this may involve a technical interview lasting up to 1.5 hours and featuring design thinking questions, marketing strategy discussions, or sales pitches.

For other roles, tests or written assignments completed in your own time may be more appropriate.

For software development roles, we conduct two technical interviews as part of the assessment.

Final Interview

Great, you've made it to the final stage! Now you will get a chance to meet the team behind the scenes and the hiring manager, each with their own set of questions. This is also a great opportunity for you to ask any final questions you may have about Mailbird, or the role. With this, we are marking the end of our selection process, so the next step is to sit tight and wait for our final decision.

But worry not - win or lose, we'll give you detailed feedback and make sure you take this as a positive experience.
